Nobody has even slept on the Walmart baking aisle. I get that a lot of people purchase at Walmart for name-brand merchandise because of the cheap prices every day, but Walmart’s private label is deserving of some attention, too.
While most of you have been frequenting Costco’s bakery, I’ve been a longtime customer of Walmart’s bakery for all of my dessert needs. If you’re ready to give store-brand items from their bakery the credit they deserve, I’ll show you my favorite item.
As a seasonal product, my favorite bakery delicacy from Walmart only appears once a year—but now is its moment to shine—under the store’s Freshness Guaranteed private label. The Pumpkin Cake Roll from Walmart is the obvious product I’m referring to.
Walgreens’ Pumpkin Cake Roll
Even though my pumpkin spice season hasn’t really begun (until the weather actually turns), I’ll still buy Walmart’s Pumpkin Cake Roll as soon as I have the chance because I love it so much.
I know what some of you are thinking: why not just bake a pumpkin roll in the comfort of your own home? Yes, I make it every year around the holidays. However, I must admit that the recipe is quite challenging and my results are never up to par, even when I follow my grandma’s exact instructions.
Until I get down to making my one pumpkin roll at home per year, I just buy a slice from Walmart anytime I want one, rather than ruining my grandma’s recipe and worrying over whether the cake will roll out perfectly.
But I could also pretend that Walmart’s is homemade because it tastes the most like homemade that any store-bought pastry has ever tasted, including several from nearby bakeries.
From the rich cake and pumpkin-spiced cream cheese filling to the coating of confectioners’ sugar, Walmart has it all with their Pumpkin Cake Roll. This bakery item is inexpensive at only $5.84, and there are many reasons to appreciate it. My sole gripe is that it isn’t available year-round.
At last, Walmart has restocked its Freshness Guaranteed Pumpkin Cake Roll. If you’re looking for pumpkin roll fill, you should be able to find it for the most of the year.
Even in the months when pumpkins aren’t in season, you can still enjoy a pumpkin cake roll from Walmart—just remember to stash one or two in the freezer after the season ends.
