Red Robin to Begin Serving Fresh Chicken For the First Time

Although Red Robin’s crazy burger combinations and unlimited beers and sides will always be beloved by many, the chain has been demonstrating in recent months that it can provide a great deal more.

Among Red Robin’s many recent innovations—including a slew of new menu items, Happy Hour specials, and lunch specials—is what may be our favorite change-up to date. Chicken dishes at Red Robin, such as the Buzzin’ Chicken Sandwich and Caesar’s Chicken Wrap, have traditionally used frozen chicken breasts.

However, the chain is now planning to use fresh chicken, which will improve both the quality and taste of the chicken dishes and save millions in production costs.

Red Robin says switching from frozen to fresh chicken will save $5 million per year, per Restaurant Business. CFO Todd Wilson reiterated that the company is investing extensively in changes and additions to its offerings to stay competitive in the fast-casual market.

Although there’s certainly nothing inherently wrong with using frozen foods, the flavor is undeniably enhanced if you can manage to make the transition to fresh. This chicken change-up is an excellent example of a conversion that benefits both the business and the consumers.

Red Robin’s redesign has improved several menu items. According to Restaurant Business, around 85% of the menu items, including mayonnaise, tomatoes, pickles, sauces, and buns, have been replaced with higher-quality ingredients.

Red Robin has also changed the way they cook and serve its burgers in the last year. Instead of putting them in a basket, they now serve them on a plate. Taken as a whole, these alterations constitute substantial strides in elevating the quality of the eating experience.

Even long-standing favorites like Red Robin need to be inventive to remain in the regular rotation of consumers, as there are more fast-casual options than ever before. For chains to maintain their status as customers’ go-to, they must continually meet or exceed their expectations for quality products, menu variety to accommodate various dietary needs, and affordable prices. Red Robin is making every effort to demonstrate its ability to meet all of these expectations.

Sales of Red Robin’s Smokehouse Brisket Burger and Cheesy Bacon Fondue Burger have smashed records, and the restaurant is still all the rage among burger fans worldwide. Now, with their newest menu addition, Red Robin may challenge the dominance of other chicken chains as well.

Red Robin’s variety has always been its main attraction, as evidenced by the praise of chefs we recently surveyed for both its signature dishes like the Gourmet Cheeseburger and its one-of-a-kind creations like the teriyaki-glazed Banzai Burger.

There will be more fresh, high-quality food for diners worldwide thanks to Red Robin’s addition of fresh chicken, which will not only improve its own offers but may also push other restaurants to make similar upgrades. Everyone who loves fast food thanks Red Robin whenever they set a new standard.
