Popeyes Just Expanded Its Chicken Wing Lineup With a Brand-New Flavor

Since introducing its new chicken wing lineup in November 2023, Popeyes has been striving to become one of America’s favorite wing joints. Now the chain is adding an interesting new taste to its inventory, giving it a fighting chance against its top chicken wing rivals once again.

Popeyes has just announced the temporary addition of additional chicken wings flavors, including Honey Lemon Pepper. Although the new flavor won’t be available in stores until April 1, customers can have a sneak peek at it from March 19–March 31 by placing an order through the Popeyes app or website.

Popeyes stated in a news release that the new wings taste like “peppery heat” from black pepper, “zesty lemon” sharpness, and a hint of honey sweetness. The wings are seasoned, dipped in flour, rolled in breadcrumbs, then cooked in hot oil until golden and crispy.

Along with five other wing flavors previously available at Popeyes locations nationwide, the new Honey Lemon Pepper chicken wings contain a staggering 1,304.6 calories per six-piece order: Choose from eight different calorie counts: Honey BBQ (880), Roasted Garlic Parmesan (1,040), Signature Hot (1,190), Ghost Pepper (680), and Sweet ‘N Spicy (910). After launching in late 2023, Popeyes has never before enlarged its chicken wing offering.

“Our goal is to keep shaking up the wing industry and giving our customers wings that are out of this world,” stated Amy Alarcon, Popeyes’ VP of culinary innovation. More than just adding new wings to our menu, we’re challenging our customers to reevaluate their standards for delicious wings with the introduction of Honey Lemon Pepper Wings. Certainly, it’s a daring step. Our specialty, though, is being daring.

The new Honey Lemon Pepper wings, along with all of Popeyes’ other wing flavors, are available in a variety of serving sizes, including six-piece, twelve-piece, twenty-four-piece, and eighteen-piece group packs. In conjunction with the release, the chain has unveiled a new advertising campaign that challenges consumers to “break up” with their usual order of chicken wings and try the Honey Lemon Pepper variety. In early April, Popeyes will produce a self-help booklet to assist fans in getting over the “breakup” as part of their fun marketing, as stated in the press release.

The Flounder Fish Sandwich (681 calories) and the Spicy Flounder Fish Sandwich (730 calories) are two of the most popular seafood dishes at Popeyes, and they’re back on the menu for March. Popeyes usually only has these seafood selections during Lent, when many people avoid eating meat for religious reasons. Popeyes’ seafood offerings aren’t going anywhere, so if you love them, don’t wait to order them.
